Agrias claudina sardanapalus is one of the most impressive Agrias butterflies. It has been described in 1860 by HW Bates. It lives in Amazonas, Rondonia (Brazil) and reaches East Peru, South Colombia and Venezuela.
Several forms have been described including the gorgeous form belsazar and the very scarce form paganinii.
