Agrias aedon toyodai has been described in 2004 by Masashi Hirata and Takashi Miyagawa. Toyodai has an intermediary pattern between Agrias aedon aedon and Agrias aedon rodriguezi. This splendid Agrias butterfly lives in Costa Rica (at a lower altitude than rodriguezi) and in Nicaragua (around Masaya).
